CASA GRANDE, Ariz. — The eight-race series DeVilbiss Racing Chassis IMCA TV Winter Nationals started Wednesday at Central Arizona Raceway with five IMCA sanctioned divisions drawing 229 entries.
Heat race winners plus the top passing/finishing points cars to total 16 qualified for the main event. B mains added cars to fill the starting field.
Zane DeVilbiss led the modified main until Dylan Thornton used a restart to take the lead on lap seven.
Thornton was in charge the rest of the main with Troy Morris finishing second and 16th starting Chaz Baca taking third.
Stock car action saw Chaz Baca lead six laps until Curt Lund used turn four to drive past Baca on the seventh time around the three-eighths-mile track.
Once in the lead it was all Lund for a win over Justin Luinenburg while a late pass earned Cameron Starry third. Lund started sixth and Starry started 10th.
Northern SportMods were led by Tyler Johnson the entire distance for a flag-to-flag romp. Payce Herrera was second and Braydon Whitfield took third.
Hobby stocks had an early battle but once Nebraska driver Zach Olmstead had the lead he kept it for the win. Morgan Olmstead started 12th and finished second and Austin Jahnz collected third.
The Mod Lite main was a close race for the win much of the way and Dillon Raffurty got the honor with A.J. Wisler and Josh May in pursuit.
The event was broadcast live on IMCA TV affiliate Done Right TV. Catch every lap again with the IMCA TV Replay Subscription, available for just $24.99/month. And don’t miss Season 2 of the Boone Docuseries, now streaming exclusively on IMCA TV.
