INDIANAPOLIS — IHRA continues to make news during the PRI Trade Show at the Indiana Convention Center.
On Saturday morning at the SPEED SPORT booth, IHRA officials announced the rejuvenated sanctioning body plans to get into the dirt track racing business.
“We have had a ton of interest here at PRI and the guys keep coming to me, so I pulled Darryl (Cuttell, IHRA owner) aside and asked if he was ready to do this,” said IHRA President Leah Martin. “He committed, so here we go.
“We will get some more information out within the next couple of weeks.”
No additional details such as types of cars or IHRA will sanction existing short tracks.
Cuttell bought the IHRA, known for sanctioning drag racing one year ago, and in recent weeks has announced the IHRA Stock Car Series, the purchase of the F-1 Powerboat Racing and an entry into drag boat racing and tractor pulling.
On Friday, IHRA purchased Pennsylvania’s Maple Grove Raceway.
SPEED SPORT 1 is the exclusive broadcast partner of all IHRA racing series.
