MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. — Matt Sheppard ruled the roost Thursday night at Orange County Speedway as the legendary Eastern States Weekend opened with the Hard Clay Finale for the Short Track Super Series.
Sheppard started third and raced to a $5,000 triumph on the five-eighths-mile race track, beating rival Mat Williamson to the checkered flag.
Sheppard earned an additional $15,000 for securing the Short Track Super Series modified championship.
Behind Williamson at the checkered flag were Anthony Perrego, Chris Raabe and Alex Yankowski.
