CLEWISTON, Fla. — Fans packed the stands Saturday night as the CRUSA Dirt Late Models stormed into Hendry County Motorsports Park, delivering a fierce and fast feature that kept the crowd roaring from the drop of the green.
When the dust settled, it was Ruskin’s own Doug Horton who stole the show, leading every lap in a commanding drive to victory lane.
Starting from the pole, Horton put the field on notice early, setting a blistering pace and never giving an inch. Smooth, seasoned, and in total control, the driver of the No. 46 machine made a statement with a wire-to-wire victory.
After the race, Horton shared his excitement not only about the win, but about what’s coming next for Florida dirt racing:
“I will be here for the Real American Beer World of Outlaws Late Model Series which is coming in February,” Horton said. “I don’t care if we run a crate motor, we will be here.”
Behind him, Christian Augspurger of West Palm Beach charged from third to finish runner-up, showing late-race speed and patience. Plant City’s Steven Mathis Jr. also moved forward from fourth, taking the final podium spot with a strong third-place run.
