Jonathan Cash will compete full time on the SMART Modified Tour for the 2026 season with a new team.
Cash will join Hillbilly Racing to compete in the No. 79, teaming with one of the most historic car numbers in southern modified racing history and the entire Hill family, led by David Hill.
Cash was victorious for the first time in his SMART Modified Tour career in 2025 at Coastal Plains Raceway driving for Sadler-Stanley Racing.
“I’m really excited for this opportunity with David Hill and the Hillbilly Racing team,” Cash said. “It’s something we have talked about for a couple of years now, and we’re excited to make it a reality. I look forward to working with David, Derrick, Justin and their entire team. We currently have the entire SMART Modified Tour schedule in the chase for the championship there, but we’re hoping with a few more partners, we will be able to do a couple of other races as well.”
“It all finally worked out for us to join forces and compete for wins,” team owner David Hill said. “With our success we had last year, running top-five until the end of the season, we are excited for it. Jonathan has some great experience at the tracks the SMART Modified Tour runs, and our expectations are high. We’re planning to go out there and chase wins and have a shot at the championship.”
The 2026 SMART Modified Tour schedule includes 14 races spread across 13 different tracks. The SMART Modified Tour will visit Caraway Speedway twice, but otherwise, will compete at 12 different tracks across North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
The season begins at Florence Motor Speedway on February 28 and concludes at North Wilkesboro Speedway October 17.
“I want to especially thank Hermie Sadler, Bill Stanley, Pace-O-Matic and the entire PSR Products team for the last few years,” Cash continued. “It was an honor to drive for their team and represent their partners.”
