MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Canadian entrepreneur and Rette Jones Racing co-owner Terry Jones has acquired Port City Racecars.
Port City Racecars will continue operating as a premier race car facility, specializing in manufacturing championship-winning chassis, providing top-tier technical support and supplying premium race parts to competitors across North America.
Former owner Gary Crooks will continue to play an active role in the company’s daily operations, ensuring a seamless transition while maintaining business as usual.
Additionally, industry leader Jeff Fultz, known for his wealth of experience and expertise in short track racing, will remain in his influential role, contributing to the company’s continued success.
“This acquisition marks a significant milestone for the Jones Group,” said Terry Jones. “For more than 40 years, Port City Racecars has been a cornerstone of short-track asphalt racing. My goal is not only to ensure its continued success for another four decades but also to drive its evolution within the industry.”
Jones’s vision for Port City Racecars includes a strengthened leadership team and a new lineup of partners, including Crooks, Rette Jones Racing co-owner Mark Rette, newly appointed Rette Jones Racing vice president of operations Greg Zipadelli, and NASCAR Cup Series driver Noah Gragson.
Crooks, a driving force behind Port City Racecars’ success, expressed enthusiasm for the future while reaffirming his commitment to the company.
“Port City Racecars and asphalt short track racing have been my life’s work, and I’m excited to continue playing a key role in the industry in this next chapter,” offered Crooks. “Working alongside Terry, Mark, Greg, and Noah brings a new level of opportunity and expertise to the table.

Gragson, who will compete in limited Late Model events for Rette Jones Racing this season, added,

Zipadelli, known for his extensive experience in motorsports management and competition, sees the acquisition as an opportunity to expand Port City Racecars’ reach and impact.
