MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Hettinger Racing made its name in grassroots late model racing, and it’s where the team will continue to develop the next generation of racing talent.
While expanding his operation to compete fulltime in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, team owner Chris Hettinger will again field an entry in the Late Model Stock division of the zMAX CARS Tour.
Chase Burrow, a 21-year-old racer from King William, Virginia, will drive the No. 5 Medek Corporation Ford Mustang for Hettinger Racing in all 15 CARS Tour races. Burrow, the 2022 CARS Tour Rookie of the Year, enjoyed a breakout season in 2025, scoring his first career CARS Tour victory May 31 at Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway in Hampton, Virginia.
“I firmly believe that Late Model racing is the best place to develop drivers who aspire to compete at the top levels of NASCAR, and as we continue to grow our program, it’s important to stay committed to that foundation. Under one roof, we provide multiple rungs on the racing ladder for drivers to advance their careers,” Hettinger said.
“Chase Burrow is exactly the kind of young talent we want in our racecars. He’s versatile, hungry and has already earned success on the CARS Tour. He wants more and we want more for him. We’re looking forward to working together and getting the best out of one other.”
Burrow comes to Hettinger Racing with an eclectic racing background. He started racing at age 9, and in just 12 years, Burrow has driven on asphalt and dirt, ovals and road courses, and recently sampled a winged sprint car, winning in October at Langley.
This offseason, Burrow was one of the 15 drivers featured in the reality competition series “Race for the Seat,” which debuted Jan. 25 on FOX.
“Last season was a big step forward for me, and I’m ready to build on that momentum this year with Hettinger Racing. Chris and his team have built an impressive reputation for developing drivers and putting them in good, strong and reliable equipment,” Burrow said.
“The CARS Tour is extremely competitive, so to be with a team so invested in growth and long-term achievement means a lot. The season can’t come soon enough. I’m ready to get to work.”
