Jason Burdett is no longer at LEGACY Motor Club, a team spokesperson confirmed to SPEED SPORT on Friday.
Burdett signed on to crew chief Jimmie Johnson’s No. 84 Toyota Camry in select NASCAR Cup Series events in 2024. Making six starts together — including the Daytona 500 — the duo never finished better than 28th (Dover (Del.) Motor Speedway). They made their last start Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, crashing out after 110 laps.Â
Before joining LMC, Burdett spent nine seasons as a crew chief for JR Motorsports in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, working with Justin Allgaier for seven of them.Â
LMC confirmed that other changes were made regarding the personnel on the No. 84 team, but did not comment on the specifics. Johnson, a seven-time series champion is still expected to make three more starts this season: Kansas Speedway (Sept. 29), Las Vegas Motor Speedway (Oct. 20) and Phoenix Raceway (Nov. 10).
A new crew chief will be named at a later time.Â
