NASCAR Xfinity Series star Justin Allgaier is set to start the Coca-Cola 600 in place of Kyle Larson aboard the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.
With the delay of the 108th Indianapolis 500, Larson, who was attempting to compete in both the Indy 500 and Coke 600, elected to contest the 500-mile race in Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon.
Allgaier has 81 previous NASCAR Cup Series starts.Â
The Indy 500 took the green flag at 4:44 p.m. Eastern Time. It’s yet be determined when Larson will return to Charlotte to compete in the 600-mile race.Â
Larson, the 2021 Cup Series champion, qualified the No. 5 Chevrolet in 10th position. With the driver change, Allgaier will start at the rear of the field.
