Vildosola Earns Living Legend Status

ENSENADA, Mexico — Celebrating 52 Years of SCORE Desert Racing Excellence’, Gustavo Vildósola Sr. is a living legend in off-road racing, especially in his beloved Mexico and the Baja California Peninsula, where he has achieved historic victories in the SCORE Baja 1000, SCORE Baja 500, and SCORE San Felipe 250, highlighted by his fourth consecutive championship in the SCORE Trophy Truck Legend division.

Vildosola Sr., 72, Mexicali, Mexico, remains highly competitive in the sport while also supporting various philanthropic initiatives, including funding scholarships for students at CETYS University and donating toys and clothing to communities throughout Baja California.

Supercross legend Ricky Johnson, 61, El Cajon, Calif., has been a key partner behind the wheel alongside ‘Gus’ Vildosola in the Vildosola Racing No. 1L AWD Ford Raptor built by Mason Motorsports. Johnson has been instrumental in helping the team achieve 16 consecutive victories in the SCORE Trophy Truck Legend class, a division for drivers aged 50 and older.

With 467 points, Gustavo Vildosola Sr., Ricky Johnson, and Mike Coleman — who was part of the driver lineup for the BFGoodrich Tires 58th SCORE Baja 1000 — secured Vildosola Racing’s fifth SCORE Trophy Truck Legend championship (2018, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025).

‘Gus’ Vildosola Sr., Gustavo ‘Tavo’ Vildosola Jr., and the Vildosola Racing team are part of the King Shocks athlete roster, official shock absorber and race title sponsor of the 2025 SCORE World Desert Championship.

The Vildosola Racing team will also receive a prestigious 2025 Rod Hall SCORE Milestone Awards at the 2025 SCORE Gala on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, at the Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park, San Diego, Calif., after completing 1,974.25 masterful miles of Mexico’s rugged Baja California terrain, across the four rounds of the 2025 SCORE World Desert Championship.

‘Gus’ Vildosola has previously earned five Rod Hall SCORE Milestone Awards, four of them in the SCORE Trophy Truck Legend division (2022, 2023, 2024, 2025), in addition to another award won in the SCORE Trophy Truck class alongside Rob  ‘The G.O.A.T.’ MacCachren (2004).

In addition to the 2025 SCORE World Desert Championship in the SCORE Trophy Truck Legend class and the 2025 Rod Hall SCORE Milestone Award, the Mexican team—which also competes with Gustavo ‘Tavo’ Vildosola Jr.’s No. 21 SCORE Trophy Truck in the SCORE Trophy Truck division — has two candidates vying for a 2025 SCORE Off-Roadsman of the Year Awards.

Steve Lewis is nominated for SCORE Team Manager of the Year, an honor he previously won in 2022 with Vildosola Racing, while Andres ‘Lechero’ Rodríguez is once again in contention for SCORE Mechanic of the Year, a title he earned in 2018, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
