Klotz Klash Team Race Joins Rumble Card

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — “It’s going to be wild – like nothing else seen at the Rumble before,” is the best way promoter Larry Boos can sum up the newly announced Klotz Klash Team Race for karts at this year’s Rumble in Fort Wayne presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales.

It will be contested Saturday, Dec. 20, on day two of the racing extravaganza competing on the seventh-mile purpose-built concrete oval inside the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, with $300 going to the winning team and $200 to the runner-ups.

Up to six teams can be entered into the Klotz Klash, with each team consisting of five karts, one each of the following Economy Auto Parts kart divisions – Junior 3, Junior Sportsman, Predator, Clone 360 and Senior Champ. Additionally, five different drivers must be used on the team and drivers can only drive for one team.

The initial line-up will be determined by the team captain at the time of team introductions and will start with Junior Sportsman entries in a rolling start based upon that draw.  Each segment will be five quick laps.  It will be a continuous green flag situation. Upon the completion of each sector, the team delegate will pull into the infield area, behind their colleague, who will be released from a Rumble official to complete their five laps.

The running order following the initial Junior 3 leg will be Senior Champ, Predator, Junior Sportsman and conclude with the Clone 360 members.

“It is going to take a lot of coordination and skill once the green flag drops,” continued Boos. “Each leg must be properly staged, the driver ready and then be smooth in blending back to the racing surface to race hard and complete their segment.”

“As a Fort Wayne-based company, Klotz Lubricants is proud to support the racing community in an event that shines a spotlight on the passion and tradition of motorsports in our region,” commented Klotz General Manager Cale Carney.  “We have been following the Rumble for years; it’s a holiday season gathering of families, fans, and competitors from across the Midwest, and we’re excited to help elevate the experience.”

Joining the go-karts each day for complete racing programs will be the full-sized Midgets, along with LiUNA non-winged 600cc Midgets, North Baltimore Custom Cuts winged 600cc Midgets, BRE Racing Engines Quarter Midgets and Cobra Racing Tire/Wedge Innovation Wedge Karts.
