WHITE CITY, Ore. — Charlie Thompson won the 25-lap Kendall Oil Winged Sprint Car feature Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway.
This was the first win of the season for the 2009 champion Thompson and the standings were shuffled with one race to go as Mike Wheeler dropped out early.
Bailey Hibbard will be the point leader with Mike Wheeler and Thompson both within a few points of him going into next week’s season finale.
Thompson won the six lap Scramble to grab the pole for the feature. He raced into the lead at the start ahead of Bailey Hibbard. Wheeler stalled with motor woes on lap 10. Thompson led Bailey Hibbard on the restart.
Thompson was lapping David Marble when he contacted the front wall on lap 16. Marble ended up flipping for a red flag, but he was not injured. Thompson had the lead for the final restart and would lead the rest of the way ahead of Bailey Hibbard, Jake Wheeler, David Hibbard and Johnny Burke.
Trent Elliott won the 25-lap late model feature with Ross Payant topping the late model lites main event. David Steele won mini stock feature.
