SOMERTON, Ariz. – Chase Hollatz raced to a $1,000 victory Wednesday night during the IMCA.tv Winter Nationals at Cocopah Speedway.
Cody Johnson led the first lap before fourth-starting Chanse Hollatz drove through the bottom of turns one and two to take the lead on lap two.
Hollatz stretch his lead over the 21 non-stop laps but a yellow with eight laps remaining put Paul Stone on the bumper of Hollatz. Stone grabbed the lead with five laps remaining using the drive out of turn four, but Hollatz came right back a lap later and added a five-car length lead to collect the win.
A late race pass saw 19th-starting Brock Badger take second from, and Stone finished third from his 11th.
Winning last Saturday meant Hollatz won two-straight.
Nineteen hobby stocks chased the $1,000 to win award, and Bobby Horton, already with two wins last week, started on the outside front row and made use of the luck.
Horton controlled the race for all 30 laps for his third series win, not letting pressure from Brandon Bombardo keeping him from the win. Jason Duggins was third.
The next three nights will feature five IMCA divisions to finish the Winter Nationals
