HANFORD, Calif. — Brooklyn “Pretty” Holland won the 15 lap IMCA Western RaceSaver Series feature event at Peter Murphy King’s Speedway on Saturday night.
Holland inherited the lead after Kyle Rasmussen stopped on the track, bringing out the caution on lap 10 ending his night. Holland had dogged Rasmussen who took over the top spot on lap five. The two had started next to each other on the third row but it was polesitter Brandon Emmett who would set the early pace. Rasmussen would get the advantage as the two fastest cars battled to get around Brian Murphy in the first turn.
Rasmussen passed Jesse Burks to move into second but the race would soon slow as Emmett spun in turn three, bunching the field up with 10 laps to go. The race would restart but one lap later, Emmett would spin again, this time in the first turn. His No. 12 machine then was pushed back to the pits, ending his evening.
The race quickly turned into a Rasmussen-Holland battle as the two pulled away from the rest of the field. Holland tried hard to catch Rasmussen who maintained a four car length advantage. But with just five laps to go, Rasmussen suddenly slowed to a stop, high in the middle of turns one and two. The Clovis, California driver had to be pushed off the track.
With four laps to go, Burks made a turn four pass to take over second. The six-car field finished the final laps in the same order. The cars of Rasmussen, Murphy and Emmett finished in the pit area.
THE FINISH:
Brooklyn Holland, Jesse Burks, Phil Heynen, Kevin Barnes Sr., Davey Pombo Jr., George Tristao Jr, Kyle Rasmussen, Bryan Murphy, Brandon Emmett
