ANTIOCH, Calif. – Jerry Flippo took home a $1,000 prize for winning the IMCA modified main event that headlined the second night of Turkey weekend at Antioch Speedway on Saturday.
After a multi-car wreck on the initial start and an aborted second start, Flippo used a huge run on the outside of turns one and two to go from sixth to first on the opening lap of the 40-lap main event.
Flippo would go on to control the rest of the feature, outrunning Kellen Chadwick for the victory at the three-eighths-mile dirt oval.
“I just had to get out there early and try to get these guys before they got out there,” Flippo said. “I tried the top on the first lap and it got me to second and then I got the lead down the front straightaway. Then we just ducked to the bottom.”
Jim Pettit II, Robby Sawyer and Shawn Natenstedt completed the top-five.
Fred Ryland came from ninth to win the 30-lap IMCA Northern SportMod feature, with Les Friend topping the 30-lap street stock feature. Dakota Keldsen was the winner of the 4-Banger feature.
