HAMPTON, Ga. – Round four of Thursday Thunder at Atlanta Motor Speedway sped on to the track Wednesday night, as drivers again took to the quarter-mile Thunder Ring to compete for crucial championship points across eight divisions.
The most compelling race of the night was undoubtedly in the WJP Investments Young Lions feature. Parker Eatmon started out strong as the race unfolded and was determined to stay out front while competitors chased.
Eatmon was persistent with his lead and fended off Round two and three winner Isaac Bevin to finally claim the checkered flag for his first win of the season after a tough stretch of missed opportunities in the Young Lions division. Eatmon has been right on the cusp of victory this season at Thursday Thunder and finally finished it off in the WJP Investments Young Lions division Wednesday night after a pair of second place finishes and a fourth place finish in the first three events.
Colin Brown followed suit in the The Byron Powersports Semi-Pro feature race, as he earned his first win of the season defeating last week’s winner Graham Campbell. However, Brown’s win did not come easy as competitors threatened in the closing laps.
A caution resulted with five laps to go, narrowing Brown’s lead with last week’s winner Campbell one behind Brown. However, Brown’s poise and focus was too much as he wouldn’t look back and drove straight into victory lane.
In the Masters division, the pole sitter, Benjamin Jones of Macon was eager to capture his first victory of the season, although it would come with distractions. A few yellow flags ensued which narrowed Jones’ lead and changed who he would have to fight off Mark Swan and Russell Shore. However, Jones’ desire for his first win was too much as he snagged his first victory in the Masters feature.
Jacob Bradley got off to a hot start in the Outlaws feature race, and was determined to stay there. Though he would be challenged by the likes of Garrett Erwin who waited for his move to come. Unfortunately for him, that opportunity never came and Bradley cruised in the closing laps as Bradley led from flag to flag.
The Associates Group Pro feature race brought similar results from last week as Caleb Heady continued his dominance from the start of this race. This was Heady’s third win this season at Thursday Thunder.
In other feature action, Cash Belk of Hoschton claimed victory in the Rookie Bandolero division, and Luke Yarbrough gained his third straight checkered flag in the Chargers division. Additionally, Hudson Canipe captured his second victory of the season in the Bandits feature race after a dominant back half of the race.
