NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – Stephen Nasse powered to his first victory of the year during Sunday’s super late model feature as part of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway.
Starting fourth after an eight-car invert of the top qualifiers, Nasse quickly moved into second. On the 10th circuit he was able to dispatch Sammy Smith to gain the top spot, a position he held for the remainder of the 35-lap feature.
Justin Mondeik finished third, followed by defending World Series super late model champion Derek Griffith and opening night feature winner Brad May.
NASCAR Cup Series star William Byron, making his first start of the week at the World Series, finished ninth after starting from the tail.
In other action, Michael Hinde collected his second victory in three days in the pro late model division. Other feature winners included Carsten DiGiantomasso (602 modifieds) and Terry Fisher (Florida modifieds).
