COLUMBIA, S.C. – After a long offseason, Mason Ludwig is ready to get back behind the wheel of a limited late model for Leicht Motorsports Driver Development.
Ludwig, the winner of the 2018 Search for a Champion $50,000 “On The Track” Grand Prize, will return to Leicht Motorsports Driver Development this year for select events at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway and Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Speedway.
“It’s been way too long and I’m ready to get back in a race car,” said 16-year-old Ludwig. “Last year was an incredible year. I won the Search for a Champion contest and won my first limited late model race at Hickory. It was so incredible to accomplish those two feats but now I’m ready to do even better.”
Barely 10 days after being named the winner of the Search for a Champion contest last April, Ludwig broke through for his first limited late model victory. The victory came in his second start for Leicht Motorsports Driver Development and his second start in a limited late model.
“I can’t even put into words what that two week period meant to me,” Ludwig recalled. “Now that I’m officially back with Leicht Motorsports Driver Development, my next goal is to get back out there and bring back a few more trophies for Eugene and Rebecca Leicht. Without them none of this would be possible.”
Leicht Motorsports Driver Development co-owner Eugene Leicht is excited to welcome Ludwig back into the fold.
“We’re so happy to welcome Mason back to the team,” Leicht said. “His win last year at Hickory was one of the highlights of our 2018 season and we’re looking forward to Mason making a few more highlights for us this season.”
Ludwig and Leicht Motorsports Driver Development will be on track together for the first time this year July 13 at Hickory Motor Speedway.
