NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — For the second consecutive night Matt Hirschman stood in victory lane at New Smyrna Speedway on Thursday.
Hirschman, who won Saturday’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour opener, triumphed for the third time in seven nights during the 55th annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.
Hirschman took the lead from Jimmy Blewett with only a handful of laps remaining and cruised to victory as he chases his fourth World Series title.
Blewett came home second, with Ronnie Williams, Stephen Kopcik and Ron Silk rounding out the top five.
Sammy Smith took the lead at the start of the 35-lap super late model feature and led the entire distance for his first World Series late model victory. Smith also won the ARCA Menards Series East race earlier in the week.
Ryan Preece finished second, with Bubba Pollard, Stephen Nasse and Justin Mondeik rounding out the top five.
Bryan Kruczek won the pro late model feature and Jerry Symons topped the Florida modified run.
