PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — There will be several bonuses handed out during the 3rd Annual Dave Steele World Non-Wing Sprint Car Championship 125 at Showtime Speedway Feb. 25-26.
This year’s event will feature a slight format change. The Friday night preliminary event will feature a series of six car, twelve-lap “Dash for Cash” races. Each event will pay $1,000 to win.
Saturday night will conclude the weekend when the non-winged pavement sprint car drivers in the nation will battle it out for 125 laps and a $5,000 payday.
The late Dave Steele’s parents Mac and Carol Steele have offered a $250 bonus to the fast qualifier of Saturday night’s program. In addition, Showtime Speedway, Dayton Andrews Dodge and Jimmy Cope have combined to offer a $500 bonus to the leader of lap 33 and 66.
The lap 33 bonus will be in honor of Steele himself while lap 66 will pay tribute to local car owner Jack Nowling who passed away in 2021. Nowling is credited with giving Steele his first USAC ride and a chance to race outside the state of Florida. The famed blue Nowling No.66 Quickload Aluminum Boat Trailers car helped make Steele a pavement sprint car sensation.
Early entries for this classic include Travis Bliemeister, Davey Hamilton Jr., Bobby Santos III, Kody Swanson, Kyle O’Gara and Kyle Robbins.
