Huset’s Speedway Announces Two-Day August Event

BRANDON, S.D. – Huset’s Speedway has announced plans to host a two-day, multi-division racing event with a $100,000 purse.

The track, which has been for sale for the last few years, will open for racing on Aug. 29-30. The Aug. 29 card will feature the Midwest Sprint Touring Series 360 sprint cars, USRA Stock Cars and Tri-State Late Models. The Aug. 30 card will feature 410 sprint cars, USRA B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks.

The 410 sprint car feature on Aug. 30 will have the richest payout, with the race winner earning $8,000. The Midwest Sprint Touring Series feature will pay $5,000, the Tri-State Late Model feature will offer a $2,200 winner’s share and the USRA Stock Car winner will earn $1,700.

The winners of the USRA B-Mod and USRA Hobby Stock events will each earn $1,200.

The event could be canceled depending on federal and local regulations regarding the COVID-19 pandemic at the time of the event.

Track owner Chuck Brennan has been trying to find a new owner for the track for the last several years. Last year he announced the track would host a special 410 sprint car event where the race winner could receive the race track itself as a prize.

That event failed to take place as only three teams entered the race, forcing Brennan to cancel the planned event. The track is currently listed for sale, with Brennan asking for $9.45 million in return according to the track website.
