After turning heads on the West Coast during the past few seasons, Kalib Henry will relocate to South Dakota and shift his main focus on running at Huset’s Speedway in Shane Liebig’s No. 10 Maxim.
“I am really excited for the 2023 season, and I can’t thank Shane Liebig and his team for taking a chance on a kid from California,” Henry said. “We are going to focus on running Huset’s weekly and filling in with occasional races at Knoxville and the Jackson Motorplex, and it will also allow me to still run with McColloch Motorsports on occasion in California.”
Set to relocate to Rapid City, S.D., in April, Henry plans to take part in the early season events in California — he will pilot the McColloch Motorsports No. 17 in various events. Once he makes the move, the focus turns to Huset’s Speedway for weekly Sunday night events, as well as keeping up appearances at Knoxville Raceway and the Jackson Motorplex a couple of times a month.
While running weekly races, Henry and the West River Trailer Sales and Service/McDonnel Farms/Olson Towing-backed No. 10 team will also race with the All Star Circuit of Champions and the World of Outlaws when they invade the area at various times in 2023, including the Knoxville Nationals, the Jackson Nationals and the High Bank Nationals at Huset’s Speedway.
In his native state of California towards the end of the year, Henry and McColloch Motorsports plan on taking part in the Gold Cup Race of Champions, the Trophy Cup and other big events that fit in to their schedule.
“Having the opportunity to run in some of the biggest events in the country like the Knoxville Nationals, Jackson Nationals and the High Bank Nationals is really a dream come true,” Henry said. “Since strapping into my first sprint car it is always the goal to get an opportunity like this, and aside from Shane Liebig for putting this in front of me, I have to thank all of the other car owners that have helped me over the years to get to this point. I also want to thank the McColloch family for working with me on this schedule, and giving me a great car in California to continue to compete in.”
Henry’s full schedule is TBD.
