WEBSTER CITY, Iowa — The third night of the five race USRA Summer Shootout series was at the half-mile Hamilton County Speedway on a pleasant Iowa evening. Â
Stock cars and B-mods paid $1,000 to win and hobby stocks were $700 to win. Modifieds and tuners were added divisions and were not part of the Summer Shootout points.
Stock Cars chased the $1,000 winner’s share and Derek Green won a thriller over Myles Michehl and Bill Crimmins.
Green led early until Michehl used the top line out of turn four to take over and establish a multi-car length lead.
Green closed but jumped the turn two cushion and it took five laps to catch Michehl. With two laps remaining the battle resumed and Green edged Michehl at the line with Crimmins in third.
The B mods also were $1,000 to win and Ty Griffith took the lead from the green and kept the position until a yellow with four laps remaining.
Shadren Turner ran the top in turn two when racing resumed to take over and Kris Jackson followed to drop Griffith to third. Jackson was close to Turner but couldn’t make the pass and Turner won over Jackson and Griffith.
Hobby stocks eyed the $700 winner’s pay and Dustin Gulbrandson led halfway until dropping out to move Jeremy Crimmins in the lead.
Crimmins had Scott Dobel closing but laps ran out and Dobel finished second and Riley Crimmins was third.
A small modified field was controlled by Ben Nading as he led from start to finish, followed across the line by Devon Havlick and David Brown.
With just two tuners on hand scoring was not an issue and Tyler Crimmins had no problem besting Matt Buchanan.
