DAVENPORT, Iowa — The annual Night of Destruction was run Saturday night at the Davenport Speedway.
The evening featured Cheater Races in four classes, an appearance by the American Iron Racing Series and the always exciting Trailer Race.
In the modified feature, Bob “the Dominator” Dominacki led the first eight laps. Derrick Carlson was able get under Dominacki and take the lead.
Five laps later, it was Donovan Lodge trying to do the same to Carlson. Carlson fended off Lodge to take the win. Lodge held on to finish second. Dominacki won the battle for third over Mitch Way. George Spence III rounded out the top five.
SportMod action saw Henry Carson lead the first two laps of the feature. Blaise Lewis took control on lap three. While Lewis was leading, he was also being hunted down by Dave Engelkens, who started 10th.
The lead was down to half a car length at the white flag and looked to be a close finish, but the caution flag flew ending the race with Lewis declared the winner. Engelkens was credited with second. Aaron Hitt took third, followed by Anthony Franklin and Bryan Ritter, in that order.
Jesse Owen led the first four laps of the Street Stock feature before his car went up in smoke. Jeff Struck Jr. led the remaining laps for the victory. Nick Claussen picked up a second place finish with Trevor Tucker third.
Josh Starr won the 4-Stock main by holding off Cyle Hawkins for all twelve laps. Hawkins had to settle for second, with Aaron Hitt taking another third. Joe Zrostlik and Andy Wagener rounded out the top five.
The American Iron Racing Series feature went to Steve Johnson. Johnson had to work his way around Doak Allen Jr. on lap ten and then hold on to the win. Allen recovered to finish second with Robin Atkins third. Bart Miller and Travis Heier finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
