MAQUOKETA, Iowa – Todd Cooney dominated the Hoker Trucking SLMR East Series feature that was held as part of the Brit Montgomery Memorial Saturday at Maquoketa Speedway.
Cooney started from the pole and liked it so much he stayed there until the checkered flag. The victory was his second of the year.
In pursuit of Cooney was Dave Eckrich, who started eighth and finished second. Point leader Justin Kay started eleventh and finished third. Charlie McKenna and Curt Martin rounded out the top five.
For the third straight night on the Hoker tour, Chad Holladay set the pace in qualifying. Saturday’s fast lap was 14.693 seconds. Holladay, Curt Schroeder, and Curt Martin won the late model heats. Joel Callahan won the B-main.
The Modified feature boiled down to a battle between race leader Jeff Aikey and Bone Larson. The two were glued together and would circle the track lap after lap. And despite two restarts, they finished in that order. Brad Dierks took third followed by Matt Short and Jeremy Gustaf.
Nick Hixson scored a feature win in the SportMods. Hixson jumped out in front of Ryan Reed at the drop of the green. Reed would hold on to finish second with seventh place started Tyler Soppe taking third. Shane Paris and Bob Silaggi rounded out the top five.
Cyle Hawkins led flag-to-flag in the 4-Stock main. Codie Proehl finished second followed by Travis Hawkins. Nick Proehl and Dylan Welsch were fourth and fifth respectively.
Tim Bader used a late race restart to pass Brian Gade for the win in the American Iron Racing Series feature. Gade held on to finish second. Jacob Arp, Steve Johnson, and Steve Olson finished third through fifth in that order.
