WEST LIBERTY, Iowa — Cayden Carter claimed the $2,000 top prize in Saturday night’s modified main event at West Liberty Raceway.
In the feature, Jarrett Brown rolled out to the early lead from the pole. Brown would hold the lead through the first 13 laps. Fourth place starter Denny Eckrich moved into the lead on lap fourteen, before yielding to Cayden Carter one lap later.
Carter held a sizeable lead until the race’s only caution came at lap twenty-four. On the ensuing restart, Spencer Diercks went from third to battling Carter side-by-side for the lead. Carter would regain his momentum and drive away for the win.
Diercks would place second, with Jarrett Brown taking third. Eckrich finished fourth, followed by Dakota Simmons.
SportMods were also eyeing the big money, with $1,000 on the line. Logan Anderson and Brayton Carter started on the front row. Anderson would lead all fifteen laps en route to the win. Carter stayed on his bumper throughout the race, finishing second. Tim Plummer came from mid-pack to take third.
Stock cars were also in action on Saturday night. Johnny Spaw was able to out-distance David Brandies to win both the heat and feature races. Stan O’Brien finished third in both races.
Cody Staley captured the win in the 4-Stock feature and Kurt Zimmerman won the Nostalgic Stock Car main event.
