DAVENPORT, Iowa — Derrick Carlson blitzed the modified field during The Night of Destruction racing at Davenport Speedway Friday night.
Carlson started ninth and took thelead on lap four. Derrick went unchallenged the rest of the way for the win. Brandon Durbin started sixth and finished second. Third went to Ray Cox Jr., followed by Joe Beal and Mike Goben.
SportMods put on a heck of a show in their feature race. Mark VerVynck led from the drop of the green and built up a sizeable lead. However, he faltered in the final two laps allowing both
Anthony Franklin and Brandon Jewell to get him at the finish line. Franklin took the win by a narrow margin over Jewell, with VerVynck a close third. Dustin Schram and Randy Farrell rounded out the top five.
Jesse Owen made cheating look easy in the street stock main. Owen led all 15 laps en route to the win. Tony VonDresky came from sixth to finish second, while Nick Hixson drove from eighth to third. Jeff Struck Jr. took fourth and Jeremy Gustaf fifth.
Josh Riley was the man to beat in the 4-Stocks. Riley grabbed the lead from Chris Courson on lap five and led to the checkers. Courson held on for second over Cyle Hawkins. Nick Proehl and Josh Starr were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Terry Doud drove through the field in the Midwest Jalopies main. Doud had to chase down Pat Bailey to get the lead on lap nine of the twelve lap race. Bailey held on for second with Jeff Blunt third.
