MCCOOL JUNCTION, Neb. — The Malvern Bank Super Late Models Series point leader before the Junction Motor Speedway event on Saturday was Kyle Berck.
Following 25 laps of racing on the three-eighths-mile oval, Berck’s point lead was a little larger following his $2,000 win.
Robbie Andersen led the opening lap following a side by side circuit alongside Andrew Kosiski. One lap later Kosiski used the bottom of turn 4 to take over and Josh Leonard took second a lap later with a low line turn-thre3 effort.
A yellow after eight laps put Andersen to the rear and Kyle Berck used the bottom of turn two to move into second. Three laps later Berck dove into tour one and made what became the winning pass for the lead.
Berck quickly established a comfortable lead which evaporated with a lap 17 yellow. On the restart, Berck slid up the track and cars stacked up behind him, leading to another yellow.
The next try was smooth and Berck easily led the final eight laps. Kosiski dropped out on lap 21 while third racing with Ben Schaller for that spot.
Berck was followed across the finish line by Leonard, Schaller, Bill Leighton and Jason O’Brien.
The track also ran six IMCA divisions with late models being the top group. Cory Dumpert used a big slider on Tyler Mark in turn four on lap nine to take the lead, pulling away for the victory in the nonstop main.
Starting 12th, Dumpert was followed across the line by Zach Zentner and Matt Buller. Buller used a last turn slider for his podium finish.
In other IMCA action, Dylan Smith won the modified main after Jarred Hackler took the sport mod checkers. Eric Bartels led the stock cars to the finish, Terry Tritt did the same in sport compacts, and Brandon Wergin was the hobby stock winner.
A 99-car turnout on a perfect Nebraska evening entertained the large crowd.
