FARLEY, Iowa – Named after the Highway 20 exit number, 300 Raceway is the much improved version of the former Farley Speedway.
A new PA is the latest step in turning the track into a showplace.
A series of Wednesday races is working well and Aug. 12 saw the top four IMCA fendered divisions on hand with a 64-car turnout.
The IMCA stock cars had an impressive 12 lap main when Kyle Merkes raced side-by-side with Phil Holtz for numerous laps with nearly no contact. Markes edged Holtz at the line by a couple feet.
IMCA modified racing had Dylan Thornton leading five laps before a yellow erased his lead and put Timmy Current on his tail on the restart.
Current drove under Thornton in turn four on lap six and proceeded to dominate the remaining laps for the win.
The IMCA Northern sport mods ran 15 laps for their finale. Chance Huston led eight laps before Troy Bauer used the bottom of turn four to lead.
Bauer and Jason Roth put on a show for a few laps with lead changes and crossovers until Roth took over and led the final four laps to win.
Late models created a seven-car tangle trying to start their 25-lap main, eliminating four of the 21 cars that initially gridded.
Mitch Manternach led one lap before Jeff Aikey used the top line on the backstretch to grab the lead and dominate the race. Aikey earned $600 for the win, with Logan Duffy and Andy Nezworski completing the podium.
