CORNWALL, Ontario – Mat Williamson pocketed $3,000 for winning Wednesday’s Ramone Pizzeria Big Block Series feature at Cornwall Motor Speedway.
Carey Terrance took the lead at the start of the 75-lap Ramone Pizzeria Big Block Series feature as Gage Morin and David Hebert gave chase. Terrance caught traffic by lap 10. Corey Wheeler moved to second on lap 12 as Hebert remained third.
The first 20 laps went by quickly as Williamson made his way in the top-four. The first caution came out on lap 36 as J.F. Corriveau stopped in turn one. On the restart, Wheeler challenged Terrance for the lead, but the No. 66x car held serve as Williamson moved to third. The caution flag waved again on lap 43 as Yan Bussiere came to a stop in turn two.
Terrance held the lead on the restart, but behind him Williamson gained another position by moving into second. Williamson reeled in the leader with 25 laps to go while Shane Pecore began to challenge Wheeler for third on lap 57.
Williamson made a move on Terrance coming out of turn four and got the lead with less than 15 laps to go. He would lead the rest of the way to pick up the victory, followed by Terrance and Pecore.
Other winners Wednesday included Jarrett Herbison (sportsman), Dan Cook (mini stock) and Justin Cyr (novice sportsman).
