CORNWALL, Ontario – Corey Wheeler came out on top of Sunday’s 50-lap modified feature at Cornwall Motor Speedway.
Ryan Arbuthnot and Kyle Dingwall were on the front row of the 50-lap modified feature, with Arbuthnot taking the lead over Dingwall and Corey Wheeler at the start.
Arbuthnot got into traffic with 10 laps in the books. He maneuvered through traffic well, holding his lead on the rest of the field after 20 laps. The caution flag waved on lap 23 when Moise Page slowed with a flat tire.
Arbuthnot got a good restart to hold the lead over Dingwall, with Yan Bussiere moving to third. While running in second, Dingwall had issues on lap 31 and fell out of contention.
Arbuthnot remained in command, but Wheeler was now up to second with Steve Bernier in third. Arbuthnot had issues and brought out the caution on lap 36, handing the lead to Wheeler.
Wheeler made no mistakes during the final portion of the race, earning his first victory of the season over Bernier and J.F. Corriveau.
In other action Sunday, Gabe Cyr won the 50-lap sportsman race while James Clarke topped the 20-lap mini stock feature. Rain prevented the pro stock feature from being completed.
