LOCKPORT, N.Y. – Western New York Ron McDonald Sr., died on March 12 at 85 following a brief illness.
McDonald competed in the mini stock class at area tracks in Western New York and Canada in the late ’60s and ’70s. He won Lancaster Speedway’s championship in 1971.
His sons followed in his footsteps and were successful drivers.
After he retired from racing full-size cars, he turned his interests to radio-controlled racing. He is survived by wife Cindy and sons Ron Jr. and Mike. McDonald donated his remains to medical science and a celebration of life may be held at a later date.
