CORNWALL, Ontario – Ryan Stabler triumphed in Sunday’s Race for the Cure Sportsman Series main event that headlined the action at Cornwall Motor Speedway.
Gabriel Cyr took the lead at the start of the 50-lap feature ahead of Stabler and Tyler Givogue. A few cautions slowed the feature, with an accident in turn two on lap four the first of them. Cyr remained the leader with Stabler putting pressure on him with 10 laps complete.
The leaders were in traffic by the halfway point as the intensity began to pick up. Traffic was a factor as Stabler managed to get by Cyr as they worked through the gaggle of cars just before a caution flag on lap 33.
During the restart Cyr grabbed the lead back from Stabler, but it only lasted a few laps as Stabler got the lead back on lap 37 and pulled away.Â
Cyr finished second, with Cody McPherson taking third.
Other winners on the evening included Corey Wheeler in the 358 modifieds, Andrew Hennessy in the Northeast Late Model Alliance feature and Olivier Boissonneault in the 35-lap street stock feature. Tristan Ladouceur and Justin Cyr split twin features in the novice sportsman class.
