Ron Silk Victorius In Stafford Modified Masters

STAFFORD SPRINGS, Conn. — Ron Silk took home $12,000 Friday night by winning the 100-lap GAF Roofing Modified Masters feature at Stafford Speedway.

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour star dominated, taking command from the get-go. He led the first 60 laps until a spin for Marcello Rufrano brought out the second caution of the evening.

Silk pitted, but six cars stayed out during the yellow, bogging him back in traffic. Matt Swanson restarted from the lead and tried to hold on out front, but Silk successfully regained his advantage on lap 79 and led the final 21 circuits.

Swanson finished second, completing a successful gamble by not pitting. Max Zachem finished third, Michael Christopher Jr. fourth and George Bessette Jr. fifth. Austin Beers and Eric Goodale — other Whelen Modified Tour regulars — finished 14th and 15th respectively.

In weekly racing at Stafford, Mikey Flynn won the 40-lap SK Modified race. Adam Gray won the 30-lap late model feature, Chris Matthews won the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature and Matt Clement won the 20-lap Limited Late Model race. In Street Stock, Jason Lafayette took home the victory.
