RIVER GLADE, New Brunswick – Ryan Richard scored the biggest win of his career on Friday evening as he drove to the victory in the Street Stock 75 to open the Mike Stevens Memorial at Petty Int’l Raceway.
Richard, a regular in the Street Stock division at the River Glade, New Brunswick track, took command of the 75-lap feature shortly after a caution just shy of halfway.
Brad MacLean drove to second after a spirited battle late with Michael Cormier. Cormier, who will do double duty on day two of the Mike Stevens Memorial between Legend and Sportsman competition, was crowned the Street Stock champion following the Street Stock 75 on Friday evening.
Mike Weagle and Mike Duskey completed the top five in the 16 car field. Heat wins went to Duskey and Shawn Hyslop.
J.R. Lawson capped off his Mister Transmission Mini Stock championship season with a win in the Mike Stevens Memorial Mini Stock 50 on Friday evening. Twenty-seven cars pulled through the gates on the afternoon with the first 26-laps of the feature running uninterrupted without a yellow.
Cody Byrne finished second with Dave Matthews third. Completing the top five overall included Travis Keefe and Chantel Ackles. Lawson, Keefe and Chris Garnett took home heat race wins.
Ayden Christensen and Colton Noble moved closer to their respective Leisure Days RV Bandolero championships with wins in their features. Christensen took home the Beginner Bandolero feature while Noble raced to the win in the Outlaw division.
Gail Thebeau scored her first victory in the Kings County Performance Women on Wheels feature event. Thebeau had fellow rookie Katie Beazley on her back bumper for most of the 15-lap feature and was able to hold off Beazley for the win. Paula Evans finished third and once again came home champion in the division.
Doug Matchett won the 35-lap Atlantic Modified Tour feature. Matchett was the class of the ten car field, racing to the win over Braxton Stafford and Brandon Skidmore. Yves McCray locked up the Modified track championship at Petty Int’l Raceway with his sixth place finish in the feature.
