THOMPSON, Conn. — Excitement returned to the high banks of Thompson Speedway for the second of three rounds of Thursday Night Thunder in the quiet corner of Connecticut.
Keith Rocco took the lead on lap eight of the Thompson Sunoco Modified feature and set the pace until the checkered flag. However, Rocco was disqualified when his car failed post-race inspection, handing the victory to rookie Isaiah Newcomb, who posted his first Thompson triumph.
Danny Cates and Josh Carey completed the podium.
The late model division went green to checkered with Kulwicki Driver Development Program finalist Derek Gluchacki leading all 25 laps ahead of the pack. Ryan Morgan continued his consistent and competitive season to finish second with fellow former Thompson champion Brian Tagg taking third.
Tyler Chapman topped the SK light modified main event and Jason Chicolas aced the street stock feature. Jared Roy claimed mini stock honors.
