WEEDSPORT, N.Y. — Jackson Gill claimed victory in Tuesday night’s sixth annual Sportsman Shootout at Weedsport Speedway, while Max Blair won the RUSH late model main event.
Gill topped the 75-lap sportsman event, beating Connor Cleveland to the checkered flag, with Kevin Root, Kyle Inman and Brad Rouse rounding out the top five.
“I don’t have the words for it,” said Gill. “I thought we threw it away with the flat left front there at the end. I just got too close to the jersey barrier and I hit it. When we got the lead those guys were running the bottom, so I got a good run on the high side and I had to use it. Then I was able to get back to the bottom and use that the rest of the way. Winning with a flat left front, I don’t think it can get better than that.”
Blair was the class of the field in the 30-lap late model feature, leading John Waters to the checkered flag for the $2,000 triumph.
Chad Homan, Jeremy Wonderling and Michael Duritsky completed the top five.
Ivan Forney won the 20-lap micro sprint feature.
