LA FARGEVILLE, N.Y. — The Golden Jubilee Season continued on this past Friday night at Can Am Speedway. All five divisions saw exciting finishes and some drivers continued their early season dominance, while others finally broke through for their first wins of the new year.
Logan Brown has been the dominant force in the Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman this season, winning four of the first five events. Other drivers had different plans on this night and one of them was Brady Howard, who took over the lead on lap three and started to run away from the field with Anthony Brownell and Logan Brown giving chase.
Howard appeared to be on cruise control and was headed for a sure victory, building up a near straight away lead. On lap 10 Patrick Kudrinko spun, setting up one final shot for Brown. On the restart the top two charged into the turn with Howard in command, while Camdin Cook hung on to third.
On the final lap Brown managed to pull even with Howard. As they headed to turn three, Howard spun, allowing Brown to sneak by on the top side and march on to score his fifth win in six events.
R.J. Tressider was the star of the show in the first half of the 25-lap Whitesboro Plowshop DIRTCar 358 Modified feature, as he charged out front early over Lucas Fuller, Cameron Black, Tyler Meeks and Dan Beachard.
Tressider built up a full straightaway lead by lap 12 and was looking like the car to beat. On lap 13 the first yellow flag flew for Remington Hamm who slowed on the frontstretch, giving everyone a shot including Tyler Meeks who was looking to end a long winless streak.
On the restart Tressider led the way but Meeks was on the move. On lap 17 Meeks made the move for the lead, getting by Tressider and started to run away. Scott Webb would spin in turn one bringing out the next yellow flag, allowing drivers like Billy Dunn and Tim Fuller to add their name to the list of contenders for the win.
On the restart Meeks remained in control but Fuller was on the move taking second away on lap 19, then ran down the race leader. On lap 21 Fuller took the top spot from Meeks, while Dunn charged to third.
On lap 21 the good run for Tressider came to an end after spinning in turn four. Tressider was then hit by Lucas Fuller, who flipped his car and the red flag flew.
Both drivers were not hurt in the crash. On the final restart Tim Fuller would pull away from Tyler Meeks, Billy Dunn and the others to grab his second win in a row and fourth in the first six races.
