LAFARGEVILLE, N.Y. — Tim Fuller charged from 12th on the grid to win Friday night’s DIRTcar 358 modified headliner at Can-Am Speedway.
Tyler Meeks took the lead at the drop of the green flag in the 25-lap feature, with R.J. Tressider, Andy Howard, Billy Dunn and Derek Webb completing the top five.
Meeks had a great race car and appeared to have things well in hand but Billy Dunn had other plans. Dunn took the lead on lap eight from Meeks as Fuller charged to third.
Dunn continued to lead but Fuller was on the move as he took second from Meeks and was in pursuit of the leader. A quick yellow bunched up the field for a restart on lap 11. When the green flew it was Tim Fuller to the lead in turn two, using the inside lane over Dunn, Meeks, Lance Willix and RJ Tressider.
Fuller started to open up a big lead as behind him Ryan Bartlett was on the move. Bartlett got to third and had a great battle with Billy Dunn, however Fuller was continuing to stretch out the lead as the laps clicked off.
With two laps remaining Bartlett would take the runner up spot from Dunn, but a trip to victory lane would have to wait another week. Fuller drove away and score his fourth win of the year and put him in a tie with Danny O’Brien on the tracks modified all time win list with 36 career wins, which is fourth all time.
Bartlett would hold off Billy Dunn for second with Jordan McCreadie and Taylor Caprara completing the top five.
Tyler Corcoran topped the 20-lap sportsman feature, while Josh Verne Jr. claimed the 602 sprint car main event.
Paul DeRuyter won the limited sportsman race and Jock Symonds bested the thundercar field.
