Dingwall Conquers Cornwall Modifieds

CORNWALL, Ontario – Kyle Dingwall picked up a victory in modified competition that headlined Sunday’s card at Cornwall Motor Speedway.

Lee Ladouceur took the lead at the start of the 40-lap feature as Luke Whitteker and Dingwall gave chase. Whitteker was on the back bumper of Ladouceur for the first 29 laps before he eventually was able to get around him to take the top spot.

Dingwall followed him past Ladouceur and continued to give chase before eventually moving past Whitteker to take the lead and collect the victory.

Pascal Payeur was the early leader in the Weekend Warriors Pro-Stock feature as he swapped the lead with Bruno Richard before the caution flag waved on lap two. Payeur resumed command of the race with Richard and Stephane Lebrun in third.

Another caution waved on lap eight for an incident turn two to set up another restart. Payeur again held serve, but behind him Richard lost the runner-up position as Dany Voghel and Denis Gauvreau drove past him. Soon Dave Seguin also joined the fight, moving up to second around Voghel.

Richard ended up holding serve for the remainder of the race, holding off a charging Richard in the final seven laps to earn his second win with the series.

In other action, William Racine earned his first Cornwall win in the 32-lap Next Level Home Improvement Sportsman class. Alexis Charbonneau topped the 25-lap CJs Auto Weekend Warriors Mini Stock Series feature and Jonathan Lapolice conquered the 20-lap Mini-Modified feature.
