CORNWALL, Ontario – Kyle Dingwall held off Mat Williamson to take the modified victory during day one of the Back to the Track Super Weekend at Cornwall Motor Speedway.
Dingwall led the way in the 40-lap modified feature in front of Kevin Hamel as Williamson quickly moved to third. Dingwall was inching closer to the tail of the field when the caution flag waved for Steve Bernier and Chris Herbison. Dingwall maintained the lead on the restart only for the caution to wave again on lap 12.
During the ensuing restart Williamson moved to second and began chasing Dingwall. Another caution, this time for Mike Stacey, brought the field back together at the halfway point. Dingwall had a strong restart and pulled away from Williamson to earn his first victory of the season. Gage Morin finished in third.Â
Cedric Gauvreau raced to victory in the 30-lap sportsman main event while Bruno Richard triumphed in the pro stock feature. Other winners included Eric Loyer in novice sportsman and James Clarke in the mini stock division.
