CORNWALL, Ontario – Mario Clair topped the Cornwall Motor Speedway modified field during the Fat Les Chip Stand Canadian Nationals Sunday evening.
Chris Raabe took the lead at the start of the Fat Les Chip Canadian Nationals feature event, with J.F. Corriveau in second and Steve Bernier in third. The first caution flag waved on lap four, with Raabe able to hold the lead on the restart over Corriveau and Louie Jackson.
Raabe found traffic on lap 13, though he continued to maintain a good pace as Jackson worked his way to second. The next caution came on lap 19 and during the restart Raabe had issues, handing the lead to a fast closing Clair as the caution waved with 21 laps complete.Â
Clair was now the leader, but behind him Corey Wheeler was on a charge. Wheeler was up to second on lap 25 and the battle was on. The battle for the lead was halted on lap 41 when Dalton Slack crashed in turn four. Clair was able to lead the final laps while Wheeler battled Jackson for second, with Wheeler hanging on for second over Jackson.
Ryan Stabler won the Race for the Cure Sportsman feature and Blayden Arquiette triumphed in the novice sportsman feature. James Clarke won the mini stock main event while Randy Gaudet topped the vintage main event.
