STAFFORD SPRINGS, Conn. — Michael Christopher Jr. claimed top honors in the SK Modified feature as Stafford Motor Speedway hosted its final Friday night race of the season.
In the 40-lap SK Modified® feature, Anthony Flannery and Michael Gervais, Jr. brought the field to the green flag with Flannery taking the early lead. Steven Chapman quickly took second and then he took the lead from Flannery on lap-3. Keith Rocco was third behind Chapman and Flannery with Gervais fourth and Mikey Flynn fifth. Flynn made a move to the inside of Gervais on lap fie and the two cars raced wheel to wheel with Troy Talman taking sixth place behind them.Â
Flynn took fourth on lap seven with Talman pulling alongside Gervais in the fight for fifth. Talman was able to clear Gervais on lap 11 after five laps of side-by-side racing with Christopher Jr. following Talman by Gervais to move into sixth and drop Gervais back to seventh place as Chapman was still in command with Rocco and Flannery behind him. The caution came out with 13 laps complete for Jon Puleo, whose car came to a stop just before the entrance to pit road in turn three.
David Arute spun as the field came to the green flag, but he rejoined at the rear of the field and the race stayed green. Chapman was again the race leader followed closely by Rocco, Christopher, Jr., Flynn, and Talman. Gervais and Flannery were side by side for sixth with Owen, Tyler Hines, and Cory DiMatteo making up the top 10.
Christopher was all over the back bumper of Rocco for second for several laps and he was finally able to make a pass on lap 22 to take over second and drop Rocco back to third. Flynn was still fourth with Talman still holding fifth as Chapman continued to lead the race.
Christopher rode behind Chapman until lap-29 when he took the lead with a pass in turn four. Rocco was still third with Flynn and Talman making up the top five.Â
Flynn took third from Rocco on lap 36 while Christopher was starting to stretch out his advantage over Steven Chapman in second. Christopher led the field to the checkered flag to pick up his fourth win of the 2024 season. Chapman finished second with Flynn, Rocco, and Talman rounding out the top five.
