Billy Both Grabs First Sportsman Win At Wall Stadium

WALL, NJ — After several successful seasons in the Factory Stock division, Billy Both advanced to the Sportsman ranks full-time for the 2024 campaign at Wall Stadium Speedway. It did not take the Rahway resident long to enjoy success as he raced to his first 25-lap main event win in the open-wheel stock car division on Saturday.

Although Both rocketed to the lead at the outset of the non-stop contest, his win was no easy task as he was chased by standouts Blake Barney and Kevin Davison all the way to the checkered flag. Defending champion Chris Silvestri and DJ Doyle were fourth and fifth, respectively.

Jerry Stanzione of Keansburg was the early leader in the Fast 4 25-lap main event before former champion Alonzo Morales slipped into the top spot on lap 2. Soon, Morales’ teammate, TJ Graves, advanced to second and the duo then battled to the finish before Morales took the win. Mike Lavery, Stanzione and Joe Pressey were third through fifth.

Greg Viel won in the special Fast 4 Match Race session held on the fifth-mile inner oval.

Kyle Taraska chased down early race leading rivals Buddy Sload and Tyler Wagner to make it a three-car fight for the lead before racing to the front with five laps remaining. Taraska then raced on to grab the win in the 25-lap race for the touring ATQMRA TQ Midgets. It was the ultimate comeback as Taraska flipped that same car during his last appearance. Sload, Wagner, Ryan Tidman and Josh Patterson completed the top five.
