WILMOT, Wis. — Ryan Zielski scored a back to back 20-lap CK Contractors/AutoMeter Wisconsin Wingless Sprints feature win in a hotly contested battle Saturday at Wilmot Raceway.
Zielski took the lead with two laps to go after a caution flew three laps from the finish. Zielski overtook Clayton Rossmann who had held the point from the opening green flag including a caution at the halfway point.
At the checkered, Zielski shot high coming out of turn four with Rossmann sticking to the low side for one final attempt. The two crossed side by side with Zielski scoring the win by less than half a car length. Rossmann finished second. Derek Crane, who briefly took the lead on the restart with three laps to go, but overshot the berm on the high side coming out of turn two allowing Rossmann and Zielski to roar past, ended up third. Ryan Marshall was fourth.
“My crew had some late nights all week to put this car back together after we trashed it at Angel Park last Sunday,” said Zielski. “Clayton was running a good groove and I almost overshot my mark coming for the checkered. I didn’t need that yellow to get me out of my rhythm, so I am fortunate I was able to keep in front to the finish.”
Steve Mueller captured his second consecutive 20-lap Modified feature win at Wilmot, also having won Memorial Day weekend.
Cody Potter won the street stock main event and Ryan Johnson topped the Bandit 4-Cylinder Stock race.
