WINCHESTER, Ind. – Winchester Speedway owner Charlie Shaw confirmed this week that his famed half-mile asphalt oval will return to action next year and he will team with veteran promoter Larry Boos to operate the historic facility.
“Without a doubt, the history of Winchester Speedway is unparalleled,” said Shaw. “We want to continue building upon that legacy and history and to carry on the prominence of Winchester. To reach that goal, it isn’t going to be about quantity, but rather quality. First we need to solidify the foundation and then we do the building.
“I am excited to join forces with Larry (Boos), as he shares my passion for racing. His background in the industry and ability to fulfill any role within the operation is well chronicled. Together he and I are going to sit down and map out the future and prepare the steps towards presenting quality events. Once that quality is restored, then comes the quantity.”
Bob Dillner was the most recent promoter of Winchester Speedway after taking over promotional duties in late 2020.
“I too am excited to become a part of the Winchester history and look forward to work with Charlie,” said Boos. “I know that everyone wants to see more racing on the Winchester schedule, and that will happen, but first we want to grow the team and the mission.”
To that extent, Shaw and Boos have announced the return of three signature Winchester events for next season.
The Winchester 400 and World Stock Car Festival weekends will be joined by a reappearance of the USAC Silver Crown division with Brady Bacon returning as promoter of that race.
“We are going to do this right and if it takes a little time to make all the pieces of the puzzle gel, I am sure the end result will be greatly appreciated by the great Winchester fans and race teams,” Shaw said. “Keep your eye on Winchester as we build upon our presence in the racing community.”
Additional schedule news and dates will be forthcoming.
