KOKOMO, Ind. — Late Models, modifieds, sportsman, street stock and four-cylinder Hornets stock car divisions were all in competition during night two of the of Kokomo Klash XIII presented by Allstar Performance at Kokomo Speedway on Saturday.
With some 230 cars crowding the pit area, Rusty Schlenk won the 20-car, 25-lap late model feature race. Winning for the 15th time this year, Schlenk, from McClure, Ohio, a multi-time DIRTcar UMP national late model champion, took the checkered flag in his No. CJ1 late model in front of Shelby Miles, Mike Spatola, Bill Sheets, David Hilliker and Jeff Curl.
Jeff Erickson Jr. captured the 25-lap modified main event, defeating fellow Michigan racer Curt Spalding and Jamie Lomax. Levi Kissinger, Dylan Woodling and Dillon Nusbaum rounded out the top six in the 25-car race.
Coming all the way from Mexico, Mo., Mike Vanderiet Jr. claimed top honors in the 25-lap sportsman feature race. Vanderiet bested Tucker Chastain, Lyndon Whitfill, Tommy Duncan, Tony Anderson and Bryce Shidler.
Twenty-four cars were in the 25-lap street stock headliner with Tom Wilber coming home the winner. Wilber took the checkered flag in front of another Michigan racer, Mike Vandermark Jr. Andy Bishop, Jim Ransom, Kory Conner and Chuck Smith finished behind the leading duo.
Chris Hillman won the 25 lapper for four-cylinder Hornets division competitors. Matthew Balthazor, Josh Gamblin, Cory Gumm, Jake Straka and Jason Spencer chased Hillman to the finish line.
