Rain, Standing Water Nix Jacksonville Midget Show

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Friday night’s scheduled Barney’s Pub Midgets and More Night at Jacksonville Speedway, featuring the debut of the track’s 10-race Summer Midget Series, has been scrapped due to inclement weather.

Rain moved through the Jacksonville area on Thursday and led to standing water throughout the grounds and the pit area.

While windy and sunny conditions are scheduled to develop during the afternoon hours on Friday, the clearing comes too late in the day to sufficiently dry the quarter-mile track and pit area for trailers to come in and out of the facility.

More than 20 cars were expected for the midget portion of the program, including likely appearances from Terry Babb, Johnny Murdock, Joe Wirth, Zach Daum, Daniel Robinson, Jake Neuman, World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series competition director Mike Hess, Tyler VanToll, Shelby Bosie, Broc Hunell, Jeff Beasley, Austin O’Dell, Joey Moughan, Presley Truesdon and a four-car Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports fleet with Holley Hollan, Jesse Colwell, and teenage rookies Jesse Love and Daison Pursley.

Also scheduled alongside the midgets were 305 sprint cars, pro late models, modifieds and street stocks.

The next event at Jacksonville is Sunday, April 28, featuring the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series and POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League.
