SPENCER, Iowa – Nick Meyer collected the $1,000 winner’s payout Sunday night at Clay County Fair Speedway, leading the last eight laps of the IMCA modified main event.
Five IMCA sanctioned divisions were in action with the stock car main delayed by a shower after five laps. The modifieds followed the stock cars and had a fast track to work with.
The modified opening lap saw a yellow fly involving Judson Maggers and Meyer. They made repairs in the work area and rejoined the pack at the rear.
As the inside front two rows were now at the back, formerly fifth-starting Cody Knecht became the pole car and he jumped into the lead.
Knecht was chased by Chris Palsrok and Brandon Aggen until a yellow for debris after 11 laps changed the story. On the restart, Meyer used the bottom of turn two to move into second, and a lap later used same dirt to pass Knecht for the lead.
A lap later Knecht pitted with a flat right rear and Meyer soon found James Slawson close behind. Meyer was able to maintain his lead for the remaining laps and Slawson settled for second ahead of Palsrok.
In other IMCA racing, Dan Paplow won the sport mod main and Cody Nielsen took the hobby stock feature.
David Smith dominated the stock car main and the sport compact winner was Jarad Gross.
