Lynch Is a First Time Grundy Winner

MORRIS, Ill. — Rookie late model driver James Lynch scored his first career feature win Friday night at the Grundy County Speedway.

Lynch, the 19-year-old newcomer from Palos Park, Ill., wheeled his U.S. Equipment Sales and Rentals-sponsored Camry No. 76 to victory in the 30-lap main event at the third-mile, paved raceway.  A previous winner on the Midwest Truck Series circuit, Lynch held a comfortable margin of 1.256 seconds over seven-time track champion Eddie Hoffman at the finish.

Last year’s late model champion D.J. Weltmeyer finished third, followed by Stan Zolodz IV, Keith Tolf and Jim Weber.

Kenny Benson was the winner of the 25-lap sportsman main event.  Benson posted his first win of the season ahead of former two-time track champion Kevin Murphy.  Jeff Wakeman, Jeremiah Senko and Marqus rounded out the top five.

Jerry Legner won the 15-lap feature race for the new hobby stock division while Elijah Atkinson came home the winner of the 20-lap headliner for four-cylinder pure stocks.  Danielle Dobczyk and Zach Legner chased Atkinson to the finish line.  Jacob Senerchia was the winner for the second time in Super Cup action.  The 30-lap Corporal Christian Smith Memorial race saw Senerchia defeat JoJo Fadke and Rob Baaske.
